Branding

Branding

Branding is one of the most important aspects of your business. An effective brand & strategy gives you a major edge over your competitors. What does "branding" mean? How does it affect your business? A simple answer to is this: Your Brand is “Your Promise to Your Customer”. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors'.

Your brand identifies who you are, what you believe in.

Are you the edgy and innovative product/company? Are the you experienced, and reliable product/company? Are your products high-cost, and high-quality? or the low-cost, high-value option? You can't be both, and you can't be all things to all people.

Your brand should be based on who your target customers are and what they want. The foundation of your brand is your logo. Your website, packaging and promos integrate with your logo to effectively communicate your brand.

Fine Art

Fine Art

Bill’s inspiration for creating art comes from a deep need to understand the power and meaning of images, objects and visuals when they interact with each other.

If there is a car accident, why do we need to keep looking? What compels us to stare? It is the need to make sense of chaos, to imagine the POV(point of view) of the object or the people's experiencing the crash, to understand. The crash is the "energy of opposing images" that come together and create something new, which is it’s own experience, independent and unique.

It is this new experience that is the driving force behind Bill’s art, finding the sublime order and meaning.

Most of Bill’s work is acrylics on canvas, which dries quickly and allows him to layer and work over it without mudding up its colors. Having painted billboards in San Francisco and Los Angeles before the onslaught of big billboard ink-jet printers, Bill is most comfortable working on big canvases, 8 to 15 foot. He has done commissioned paintings up to 60 feet.

He received my BFA, Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from San Francisco State University and had the amazing opportunity to study under Paul Pratchenko & Richard Mclean. For commissions or to obtain Bill Seet's artwork/services, call 415-789-4062 or go to billseet-art.com

Website

Website

A Very Basic understanding to Making a Website
1. Get a Domain: Pick a name for your business. This is the name that your customers will type into the search engine to find you. To get a domain name, you have to pay a yearly fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. Getting a name/domain does not get you a website. It’s like registering a business name at City Hall; it does not mean that you get a shop to go with it.

2. Choose a Web Host: A web host is basically a computer company (server farm) that is created to store your website that is connected directly to the internet via fast industrial bandwidth fiber or satellite connection. Once your web pages are placed on their computer(server), everyone in the world will be able to connect to it and view your website/pages. Once you buy hosting, you will have a home for your website. Using the same comparison to getting a domain name like registering a business name at city hall; Getting a hosting is like renting a store front for your business.

3. Connect your domain name to your web host. For example, if you bought your domain name at Network Solutions and choose Host Gator to serve to your website, you need to connect both these components by DNS. To bypass the confusion of linking these 2 separate components, buy your domain and hosting at the same company/site. Price range, software add-ons and quality of service differs from these “domain & hosting” companies. So do your research.

4. Designing your website: Again, do your research and pick a web platform that best suit your needs. Deciding to go with WordPress, HMTL5, HTML, Drupal, Joomla, etc.

Is your website and business heavily into selling products? If it is, then look for a robust e-commerce hosting and/or company with shipping rate calculators, state tax calculators, inventory calculators, social media marketing and sometimes warehouse shipping facilities, these value added services goes on and on.

Do you want a portfolio website showing casing your work? If so look for platforms and hosting services that serves your pages in the best, reliable, fastest and cheapest way.

Will your customers more likely to find your business via their mobile phone? If so, then look for platforms and hosting companies that center around mobile based designs.

Print

Print

Creating the correct types of digital files for print output is key. Depending on what printing device does the output, the correct software, typeset, photo resolution, color codes and its range must be considered. For instances, home ink jet printers are immensely different from a real 4 color offset printer even though they both use CMYK inks.

Most of the time, clients are on a budget and don't realize the digital proof they are seeing on their ipad or desktop is not the color they will be getting.

In order to meet my client's expectation; 1)Do a "film color match proof" costing $75 and upwards depending on the size of the print piece.

2)Pick out important logo and brand colors and embed them in the digital files and know that at least these colors will come out close to what they want in an inexpensive "4 color process gang run". (normally 1,000 4x6 postcards cost between $50 to $100)

3)"Doing it Right" and hit every color range dead on; Do a "Color Match Proof"($75 and up per page), use "spot colors"(this will increase the printing price), and Do a "Press Check"(on-site press color correction). This will increase the price of a postcard from $50 to upwards of $1,000. This is of course the clients call.

My print experience starts with working at 2 printing facilities in San Francisco early in my career. I know the importance of file submission when going to press. Depending on your budget of $50 or $5,000,000 dollar print project, I can help you navigate the printing universe. FYI; printing overseas can save you more than 50% to 75% in cost but the overall project needs to be monitored very closely for "quality assurance".

Whether you need a simple postcard to a full corporate ID output with business cards, stationery, tradeshow signage, packaging, labels, etc. I can come up with a workable and on budget solution with you.

SEO

SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the best form of free online marketing you can deploy for your website. When done correctly, your website will yield organic (non-paid) search engine results.

Best case placement for your website would be the first 5 lines on the first page of Google for the keyword you are betting on. Researching the proper words your customer will use to find your website is key.

Strong SEO techquies comprise both the technical and creative methods to improve rankings, drive traffic, and increase viability in search engines. As an internet marketing strategy, you have to consider how search engines work, what people search for, search terms typed into search engines by your targeted customer

Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.

There are many aspects to SEO, from the text on your web page to the way other websites link to you on the web page. Sometimes SEO is simply a matter of making sure your site is structured in a way that search engines understand.

SEO isn't just about building search engine-friendly websites, it's about making your site better and easier for people to find you.

Illustration

Illustration

With graphic illustrations, you will be able to get a visual representation of what you are describing in text. Illustrations also makes it easy to describe a difficult concept. I can take your idea, and help you fully express your concept in any output form you like; T-shirts, Labels, Packaging, Stickers, Logos, Posters, Banners, Canvas, CD / Book Covers, Basic Flash Animation, etc.

Illustration and interpretive drawing is a lost art. Most of the time, you can not reproduce imaginative ideas through a camera lens. The creative x factor can not be bound by reality, it can only be expressed through the right combination of drawing and color in the correctly chosen art style.

Logos

Logos

The simplest of logos always seem to be the most brilliant! A great logo concept is satisfying to look at because it doesn't take any work to understand it. Thats because it took a lot of conceptualizing and planning to get it this way.

In my logo design process, i’ll try many different angles on a concept, then subtract elements that are not needed.

The final logo composition will not need a single thing added while further removing anything from it will lessen the impact.

Inspiration for any kind of creation is quick and fleeting… You must hang on to it (the process) with both hands. If you let go of it and not ride it through its fully potential, it floats back into the universe for someone else to claim as their own.

A good logo must successfully serve its purpose. Good design is about making things function properly first, and making them aesthetically pleasing second. In the case of logo creation, that means it communicates its intended message.

The first step in logo creatation is "Getting the right idea", the second is "Getting the idea right”, quote by Marty Neumeier in "The Brand Gap"
